ZAMBIA,DRC TO START WORK ON THE KASOMENO-MWENDA AND LUAPULA BRIDGE

The governments of Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have agreed to start early construction works on the Kasomeno-Mwenda and Luapula Bridge Project next month.

DRC Minister for Infrastructure and Public Works Willy NGOOPOS announced the development during the official opening of the ongoing bilateral meeting between the two countries at Lusaka’s Radisson Blu Hotel.

Mr. NGOOPOS explained that the decision follows numerous bilateral engagements between the countries and the promoters of the Kasomeno- Mwenda toll road and Luapula Bridge project.

He said works on the site are expected to escalate by June this year.

And speaking during the same event of Housing and Infrastructure Development Minister Vincent Mwale said the Kasomeno-Mwenda toll road and Luapula Bridges project once completed will ease the cost of doing business between Zambia and DRC.

And Luapula Province Minister Nickson Chilangwa has described the project as a game changer for both his province and the Katanga province.
