ZAMBIA TO RECEIVE 58M EUROS FOR COVID -19 FIGHT

 

By Patricia Banda- The European Union -EU- and its Corporation partners have pledged to give to Zambia 58 Million Euros to be used against Covid-19.

EU Charged de Affairs Bruno Hausens, who represented EU Ambassador Jacek Jankowski, says 8 Million will come from the EU while the 50 Million is coming from other partners.

Mr. Hausens disclosed this during a Virtual Meeting with Health Minister Jonas Chanda in his office in Lusaka today.

He stated that the EU stands ready to work with the Zambian Government during this challenging time of the Pandemic.

Mr. Hausens also outlined the EU’s support that has been given to Maternal and Child health as well as in Supply chain to Zambia Medicines and Medical Supply Agency.

And Dr. Chanda has assured the EU that all resources will be handled in a very transparent and accountable manner.

He said Government is pleased that the EU is investing in effective communication strategy on the Covid-19 vaccine to the community through radio, Television and other media.

Dr. Chanda said the COVID-19 vaccine will be a Government programme and that very soon it will be tabled before Cabinet.
