Zambia on right path – Swedish envoy

By Paul Shalala

The Swedish Government says the recent reforms such as the review of the Public Order Act, adoption of the Child Code Bill and the intention to abolish the Death Penalty show that Zambia is on the right track.

Swedish Ambassador to Zambia JOHAN HALLENBORG says the reforms are crucial to strengthen democracy and human rights.

Speaking when he presented his credentials to President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA at State House today, Mr. HALLENBORG said the new government in Zambia has had a good year in office full of progressive reforms.

And Finnish Ambassador to Zambia SANA HALWEN said Zambia’s democracy is growing as signalled by the smooth transition of power after last year’s general election.

Meanwhile, President HICHILEMA told the two Scandinavian envoys that they have come at a crucial time when the New Dawn Government is transforming the country.

President HICHILEMA said his government is focusing on trade and investment as a way of unlocking the country’s potential to develop.
