Zambia on course to meet UN Sustainable Goal on birth registration

The United Nations -UN is confident that Zambia will achieve the UN- Sustainable Development Goal on 100 % birth registration by the year 2030.

UN-Resident Coordinator BEATRICE MUTALI has however urged Zambia to leverage its national target of 50- percent birth registration by 2026,for the country to easily actualize the UN target.

Ms.MUTALI said this in an interview with journalists after touring CHIPATA Level Two Hospital in LUSAKA .

In a separate interview, Ministry of Home Affairs Principal Registrar PETER MOYO said birth registration in the country stands at 14 percent.

Mr. MOYO has appealed to parents to turn up in numbers for the exercise.

Meanwhile, CHIPATA Level Two Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. MATA MATA said the medical facility is recording 700 births monthly.
