Zambia making progress in promoting human rights-Milambo

Lufola Nkowane-Zambia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, CHOLA MILAMBO says the country is making progress in the promotion of human rights.

This follows President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA’s abolition of the death penalty and the offence of Criminal Defamation of the President.

Dr MILAMBO says with the removal of the death penalty and abolition of laws such as the defamation of the President, the country is heading in the right direction.

He has said the death penalty undermines human dignity and that its scrapping away contributes to the development of human rights.

He says over the past 16 months of its governance, President HICHILEMA has taken bold steps in setting grounds for trans formative change.

Dr. MILAMBO has further said Zambia remains committed to a strong program of economic and governance reforms adding that uplifting rights is a key point.
