ZAMBIA BEATS MOROCCO

By Robert Mwanza:Zambia has beaten Morocco by three goals to two in an international friendly match played this evening in that country.This is part of the three friendlies that FAZ President Andrew Kamanga and the Royal Morocco Football Federation agreed to play some months ago.Zambia lost the first match to African Champions Cameroon by two goals to one played in Spain before humbling Morocco in their own backyard on Sunday evening.The Chipolopolo scored as early as the first minute through South Africa based Black Leopards striker and PSL 2019 top scorer Mwape Musonda who benefited from Patson Daka’s pass in the box.However, Morocco, coached by former Chipolopolo and 2012 AFCON winner with Zambia, Herve Renard responded through Ajax Amsterdam striker Hakim Ziyech in the 24th minute.In the 44th minute Zambia through Kings Kangwa regained the lead to send the match to half time with the copper bullets leading two-one.After the break, Ziyech was on target again but now from the spot kick after Zambian captain Kabaso Chongo fouled Morocco’s goal bound striker to restore parity in the 54th minute.With the match looking like it was going for a draw, Zambia’s germ midfielder Enock Mwepu lashed in a winner from outside the 18-yard box in the 74th minute following some interchange of passes to end the match in favour of 2012 AFCON kings.Zambia will now switch to play the elephants of Ivory Coast in Dubai on Wednesday in their last fixture of the three friendlies.Morocco used the match to prepare for the 2019 Africa cup of Nations that kicks off this Friday while the Chipolopolo boys used the encounter to get ready for the 2021 Africa cup of nations and 2022 world cup qualifiers that starts soon.
