Zambia Beats Egypt At Olympiads

Zambia has beaten African Champions Egypt at the ongoing World Chess Olympiads in Chennai India.

The men’s National Chess team took on the Egyptian team this afternoon in what was a showdown of two continental giants.

The Fourth round saw Zambia beat Egypt on a 2.5 to 1.5 score as they progress to the fifth round of the competition.

The Women’s team beat Kosovo 4-0 to also progress to the fifth round.

Players RICHMOND PHIRI and TIMOTHY KABWE won their games while GILLAN BWALYA drew on board and CHITUMBO MWALI lost.

And Chess Federation of Zambia -CFZ-President MUKUBULO CHILUFYA is elated with the victory.

CHILUFYA said beating African Champions, Egypt is a great achievement for the team as they have progressed to the next round.

He said the Men and Women’s teams have shown character and will reap medals for the country.

The World Chess Olympiads have been billed for 11 rounds.
