ZAF OFFICERS DEPLOYED

Zambia Air force Commander Lieutenant General COLIN BARRY says officers deployed in Pemba, Mozambique under the SADC Mission for peacekeeping are providing logistical support to maintain peace.

And General BARRY says a C-27 ZAF Aircraft is scheduled to airlift over 50-thousand kilograms of cargo for the South African Defence Force from Waterloof Air force base in Pretoria to Mozambique among the tasks.

He says this is in response to President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA’s commitment to provide resources towards stabilizing the security situation in Mozambique’s Cabo Delgado area.

This follows the SADCC Extra Ordinary meeting of Heads of State held in January 2022 in Malawi which President HICHILEMA attended.

General BARRY told ZNBC news that operations will take 30 days and thereafter the ZAF command will review its decision depending on the situation.
