ZACCI WELCOMES SI ON MEALIE MEAL IMPORTS

The Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry has welcomed the signing of the Statutory Instrument to suspend duty and provide for the importation of mealie meal.

ZACCI President CHABUKA KAWESHA has told ZNBC News in a phone interview that his organisation was among those consulted before the signing of the SI.

Dr. KAWESHA said from the various solutions on the table, signing of SI number 10 seemed more convenient to address the current shortage of the mealie meal.

He said ZACCI has notified its members of the development and is urging the business community to take advantage of the initiatives that have come with the SI.

Dr. KAWESHA has stressed that the SI extends some incentives to the private sector and a form of partial liberalization of the market.
