WORKS ON SOLAR PLANT ADVANCES

Construction of the 60 million United States dollar Bangweulu 54 megawatts solar plant at the Lusaka South Multi facility Economic Zone has advanced with works reaching 95 percent.
Energy Minister Mathew Nkhuwa says once the solar project is completed it will diversify the country’s energy and contribute to the reduction in the electricity tariffs
Mr. Nkhuwa says government will continue to roll out solar projects as a way of diversifying the country’s energy sector.
He said this in an interview shortly after touring the Bangweulu solar plant in the Lusaka south multi facility economic zone.
And Neoen Country Director Mathieu Legouix said the construction of the solar plant started last year and is being financed through a combination of equity and a loan.
