WINA ARRIVES IN WESTERN

By Prince Chiyuni -Acting President Inonge Wina has urged the people of Western Province to be peaceful as the country heads to the August 12, general election.

Mrs. Wina says no form of violence either from the ruling party or opposition political parties should be tolerated before, during and after the general election.

She has directed all party members to conduct peaceful campaigns when the Electoral Commission of Zambia officially opens the campaign period.

The Vice President added that Zambia is founded on peace and unity and that this should continue.

She was speaking when she addressed people that welcomed her at Mongu airport today.

Mrs. Wina is in Western Province for a four-day working visit.

And speaking earlier, Acting Western Province PF Chairperson Gleny Kalimbwe said the province has become a stronghold for the ruling party, as can be seen by the victories recorded in the recent by-elections.

Mr. Kalimbwe added that the party is growing strong because of the developmental projects that the government is implementing in Western Province.

He further informed the Vice President that the Province has received the highest number of applications for people wishing to stand on the PF ticket than in previous elections.

Mr. Kalimbwe said this shows that the party is attractive going into the August 12, 2021 general election.

The Vice President is accompanied by Finance Minister Bwalya Ng’andu, Infrastructure Development Minister Vincent Mwale and Water Development, Sanitation and Environmental Protection Minister Raphael Nakachinda.

Others in the entourage are Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit-DMMU National Coordinator Chanda Kabwe and former Southern Province Permanent Secretary Mwangala Liomba.
