This is a question I enjoy answering because I take time to watch and analyse African football.
There has always been an increase in African players in Zambia but the difference now is the quality of players has gone up.
ORGANISATION OF ZAMBIAN CLUBS
Zambian clubs are to a large degree better organised than many clubs around Africa.

Despite some faults locally the fact that few Zambian clubs have issues that plague many African clubs like salary arrears is an added advantage.
SALARIES AND BENEFITS
Again in terms of personal Zambian clubs rank very highly when you compare to clubs across most African leagues. Ranking between $7,000 for thw highest paid to $100 for the lowest paid. (A few fall under under $300)
That many Zambian clubs even offer free housing is an added bonus.

The league is one of Africas most competitive leagues and this is an added reason why players want to play in Zambia.
