We Still have 90 Minutes to Play – Mwape

Zambia coach Bruce Mwape has urged his players not to get carried away by the 1-0 victory over Ghana in the Paris 2024 Olympics third round, first leg qualifier heading into the decider on Wednesday evening.

The Copper Queens need to avoid defeat at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium on Wednesday to progress to the fourth and final round of the Olympics qualifiers and Mwape is calling on his players to be level-headed going into the 18h00 encounter.

“We just need to be cautious because the game is not yet over until it is over. We still have 90 minutes, we played 90 minutes away in Ghana. So this other 90 minutes, we cannot say since we are leading we should relax. We will play according to our plan,” Mwape told the press Tuesday morning.

“After the first game in Ghana, we had two days in which to prepare for the second leg. That two days the team has prepared well and is ready to meet Ghana in the second leg.”

Captain Barbra Banda called on fans to fill up Levy Mwanawasa stadium. Tickets are still available from K30 in all Shoprite stores via CompuTicket.

“The fans should expect a good game. As you know women’s football has improved in our country and everyone is pushing hard and working extra hard. Everyone is wishing to be at the national team. The competition is very high. It’s good for us as a country at large,so the fans should expect a good game tomorrow,” Banda said.

“From the previous game that we had everyone is ready for the game. Everyone is fit and we are looking forward to tomorrow’s game. In Ghana we had chances that we missed in the first half. But I think we have worked on that which we want to apply in tomorrow’s game.”
