WE ARE ALIVE: Three men survive wild leopard attack in Mazabuka

THREE (03) men in Makoye area in Chief Mwanachingwala of Mazabuka District in Southern Province have survived after being attacked by a wild Leopard.
The three victims identified as Oliver Moonga aged 19, Clever Kandesha aged 27, and Copson Chisuta aged 38 all of Chisuta village were attacked on Monday around 17:00 hours.
Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo told Mwebantu in a statement that the Leopard first attacked Oliver who had gone to the field to prepare his field and sustained multiple cuts on the buttocks and waist.
“The Leopard then attacked Clever who went to rescue Oliver after he shouted for help. He also sustained deep cuts on both hands and on the head,” Katongo said.
Katongo added that the Leopard later climbed a tree and it was later shot in the stomach by a Mr Jona Mwila aged 35 also of the same village who used a shot gun.
She said after being shot at, the Leopard fell down and attacked Copson who sustained deep cuts on the right leg and bruises on the right hand before it died.
And Katongo said the carcass of the Leopard is still being kept at Mazabuka police while the injured victims are all admitted in Mazabuka General Hospital.
