VOTER REGISTRATION :ECZ DEPLOYS ADDITIONAL STAFF

By Chansa Kunda-The Electoral Commission of Zambia -ECZ -says it has taken into account the concerns raised on the ongoing voter registration exercise which was launched on Monday.

ECZ Acting Public Relations Manager Sylvia Bwalya says the Commission has started deploying additional staff and registration kits to all registration centers to expedite the exercise.

Ms. Bwalya says the Commission has already engaged additional staff to assist in the operations at registration centers.

She says stakeholders and members of the public should therefore refrain from interfering in electoral operations.

And Ms. Bwalya says due to the high number of people turning up to register, Registration Officers have been directed to ensure they maintain two lines for Persons with Disabilities, Expectant Mothers, and the Elderly.

She says all field officers should ensure persons living with Disabilities, Expectant Mothers and the Elderly are assisted and taken in front of the queues.

Ms. Bwalya has further encouraged more people to register as voters.
