Victims of the Nsama – Nsumbu road accident to be evacuated to Lusaka

SIX victims of the NSAMA – NSUMBU fatal road accident are being evacuated to the University Teaching Hospital -UTH- in Lusaka for specialist treatment.

The six, who include a 7-year old boy sustained serious head and lung injuries from the accident which claimed 21 lives.

Northern Province Medical Director ERNEST MUTALE has disclosed to ZNBC News that the six will be flown to Lusaka today.

Dr. MUTALE has described the condition of the victims as stable but critical.

And Dr. MUTALE said there are currently 18 accident victims in Mbala and 12 in Mpulungu Hospitals respectively.

Meanwhile, the Northern Province Medical Director has clarified that only 21 people died in the accident and not 23 as earlier reported by the Zambia Police Service.

Dr. MUTALE said the death toll was recorded at 20 before another victim passed on after undergoing an operation.
