Venues to turn red in support of live events industry

BBC-Venues across Lincolnshire will be lit up in red this evening to highlight the crisis facing the live events scene as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

The International Bomber Command Centre, Lincoln Performing Arts Centre and the Engine Shed are among the venues involved in the event being organised by #wemakeevents.

A similar event in August saw more than 300 venues across the UK turn their lights red.

Campaigners say that without support from government the “entire entertainment supply chain is at risk of collapse”.

Luke Maxwell, technical manager at the Engine Shed, said: “By next year I don’t know if I can even be in this industry anymore, and it’s the same for many many other people.”
