VEEP COMMISSIONS INTERCITY BUS STATION

By Justine Akakulubelwa

Vice President Inonge Wina has commissioned the intercity bus station and an ultramodern market in Livingstone.

Speaking after a conducted tour of the two facilities, Mrs. Wina says Government will continue to grow the economy through infrastructure development.

She says the two structures will complement the Harry Mwaanga International Airport and the Kazungula Bridge, and help Livingstone transform into a travel hub for the region.

The Vice President has however advised that the two Structures, whose construction works have been completed by the National Pensions Scheme Authority NAPSA, should be maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness at all times.

And NAPSA Board of Trustees Chairperson, Evans Chibiliti, says the two structures have set the standard on the modern management of markets and bus stations in the country.

Mr. Chibiliti has urged call boys and other associated staff at the old bus station not to worry of job losses as their services will be formalized like those of potters at airports.

Meanwhile, Southern Province Permanent Secretary, Joyce Bwacha, says the people of Southern province and Livingstone in particular are thankful for the infrastructure development that is taking place in the region.

This contained in a speech read on her behalf by her deputy, Kennedy Mubanga.

The construction of the Intercity Bus Station and an ultramodern market in Livingstone, started in 2013 ahead of Zambia’s co-hosting the UNWTO General Conference.
