June 28, 2019June 28, 20192By Wilson Mulinda:Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya says the US Government has played a pivotal role through investment is helping Zambia attain universal health coverage.Dr. Chilufya says the quality and impact of support being rendered complements the Government’s efforts to enhancing the welfare of the Zambian people in line with the aspirations of the United Nations 2030 agenda.Dr. Chilufya says the 4 hundred and 21 million US dollars that was recently granted to Zambia through the United States President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief PEPFAR is evidence of the commitment that US has to assist Zambia to fight the spread of HIV.He also noted that more needs to be done for enhancer collaborations between the two countries so as to rip mutual benefits.Dr. Chilufya was speaking when he graced the 2 hundred and 43rd anniversary of the United States Independence Anniversary.And US Ambassador to Zambia Daniel Foote said the US has for many years been Zambia’s bilateral donor by a large margin through direct and non-debt assistant which comes at no cost to the Zambian people.Mr. Foote said Zambia must put up a strong fight to put an end to corruption which will in turn attract more American investors.
