UPPZ plans big for agriculture

Chikankata (19-06-18) – United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia (UPPZ) has disclosed intention to start a fertilizer manufacturing company to supplement the smooth supply of fertilizer in the country.

UPPZ president Charles Chanda told farmers when he went to exhibit their farm produce at Chikankata agriculture show.

He said that the delay in the supply of fertilizer among farming Communities was affecting the agriculture activities in the area.

The plant will stationed at Makeni Waste. What we still waiting is branding machine which should be in any time soon.”

He added that the start may delay but surely it will take off before end of the year.

He clarified that the fertiliser making business should not be seen to competing with company but a business venture that need to be appreciated by all well meaning Zambian.

“If others people can be allowed to import fertilizer from abroad and distributed in Zambia, I see no reason why UPPZ can be be stopped from putting up a plant in Zambia to manufacture fertiliser. ”

With the coming of a new fertilizer company Chanda explained, the problem of fertilizer supply will be things of the past.

Chanda wants agriculture to be the main economic activity and a gainful venture to benefit individual farmers.

Chanda indicated that his party stands to support viable business saying that when people make money, it is the national economy that grow.

He said it is embarrassing to see exhibitors at Chikankata agriculture show exhibiting their products on ground without tables.

As a way of supporting exhibitors, Chanda bought assorted goods, including cloths which he donated to show goers and 12 phones for headmen.

And some exhibitor complained that business at the show was very slow owing to the fact that people did not have money to buy the product.

Chrispin Kabamba told Chanda that he expected to make loss during this year’s exhibition.

“The contributing factor to the business to be slow is the reduction of show goers at this year agriculture show .”he disclosed.

Similarly, Loveness Ngandu pulled a litany of complaints regarding her failed farming project which she blamed on the delay of distribution of farming inputs and partial drought in the last farming season.

“By the time the government brought the farming input, it was too late already.”Ngandu lamented.

She advised that, the farming inputs including seed and fertilizer should be distributed in time to enable the people  organise themselves.

The UPPZ leader also bought tickets worth K500 for hundred
show goers who did not afford tickets to enter the show arena.

Meanwhile an overzealous police officer forced UPPZ president to abandon tour stands at the Chikankata Agriculture  Show after accusing him of bringing politics in the show arena.

The cop told Chanda that he was under instruction to stop touring the stand until the guest of honour left.

Chanda however advised the cop not to be used by politicians to bent frustrating of the good will of citizens.

Chanda told the cop that the show was deliberately called for all citizens to view the products the people wondering why someone in his normal state would suspect that show goers were politicking.

“Like any other citizens, I am entitled to visit stands and associate with other show goers but for the sake of peace, I will leave the Chikankata Agriculture show.”
