“UPND Youth Leader Extols President Hichilema’s Economic Progress”

Lusaka, Zambia24 (27-03-2025) – Lusaka Province Youth Chairman of the United Party for National Development (UPND), Anderson Banda, commended President Hakainde for achieving a significant economic milestone within just 72 hours.

At a press briefing held at the UPND Provincial Secretariat, Banda highlighted three major accomplishments by the government.

He cited the signing of an equity partnership agreement between International Resources Holdings and ZCCM-Investment Holdings for Mopani Copper Mines operations, NAPSA’s signing of a financing and investment agreement worth approximately US$300 million for the rehabilitation of the 367 km Lusaka-Ndola dual carriageway, and a debt restructuring agreement with Euro bondholders amounting to US$3.5 billion, which marks a historical step towards the country’s economic recovery as some of the achievements.

Acknowledging these achievements, Banda emphasized the positive impact on youth employment nationwide and urged Zambians, especially the youth, to rally behind President Hichilema’s administration.

He cautioned against divisive tactics employed by opposition leaders and called for unity in supporting the government’s efforts, noting Zambia’s international recognition for its debt restructuring model.

Banda also warned defeated opposition figures such as Sakwiba Sikota, Edith Nawakwi, and Edgar Chagwa Lungu to engage in constructive politics and serve as role models.

He expressed gratitude for the UPND’s commitment to upholding the rule of law, enabling increased participation of women and youth in politics.

Accompanied by members of the provincial and district teams, Banda reaffirmed the youth’s dedication to defending President Hichilema and the party leadership while rejecting manipulation by those promoting political violence and tribalism.

He urged the public to appreciate President Hakainde Hichilema’s contributions to the country.

Banda explained that since assuming office about two and a half years ago, President Hichilema’s leadership has led to unprecedented development in Zambia.

He stressed the significance of supporting the elected leadership for the nation’s advancement.

Banda highlighted the urgent need for acknowledgment of the government’s achievements, including notable agreements, enhanced investor confidence, improved transparency, and commitment to national progress.

Additionally, he expressed gratitude to those who have volunteered their services, illustrating their dedication to serving the country.

Encouraging citizens, regardless of political affiliation, to consider joining UPND to contribute to Zambia’s development, Banda advocated for objective, issue-based politics over propaganda or division, promoting constructive dialogue and cooperation among all stakeholders.

He reiterated the commitment to supporting the president and his government in fulfilling their agenda for Zambia.

Calling for unity and collective effort to sustain Zambia’s progress and development, Banda emphasized the importance of unity, progress, and constructive political engagement for the nation’s betterment.

Banda passionately urged the people to rally behind President Hichilema, emphasizing that unity and support are vital for the country’s continued progress.
