UPND withdraws from ECZ verification

UPND has withdrawn from the verification of results taking place at the National Totalling Centre by the Electoral Commission of Zambia ( ECZ ).

Party lawyer Jack Mwimbu has just announced the development at the National Totalling Centre. He said the ECZ has not taken into consideration their concerns.

The UPND alleged that among other concerns, the man who sneaked into the ECZ IT National Totalling Centre had been released by the police and was back to “rig ” the elections.

Mwimbu also said the ECZ has insisted to verify electronic results without raw votes documented in certified at polling stations. He said the PF was now busy going round to  force the UPND polling agents to sign the election results documents popularly known as G12.

He said the ballot boxes were being moved around citing one incidence where the ballot box is at a house of a Presiding Officer who has since fled his house.

The newly elected Monze Law Maker says the UPND had not lost the election but said will not be part of the flawed election. He said according to their Parallel Voter Tabulation ( PVT ) there were far ahead of Edgar Lungu.

Asked what action the party will take, Mwimbu refused to disclose saying it is a stratagy which which they could not be made public.

Earlier Hakainde Hichilema and his running mate Geophrey Bwalya Mwamba stormed the Totalling Centre and demanded that the ECZ stops announcing results until the results from Lusaka are verified and the party’s concern taken into consideration.
