UPND wins Chinsali’s Itapa ward

The United Party for National Development – UPND – has scooped the ITAPA ward elections in Chinsali District.
This is after UPND candidate TITUS CHOLA polled 587 votes out the the total vote cast across the ward.
His closest rival TRESPHOD MUTALE of the Opposition Patriotic Front – PF – got 439 votes.
And Socialist Party candidate BWALYA KAELA polled 356 votes while CHRISTIAN CHILESHE of Citizens First got a 147 votes.
Meanwhile , Leadership Movement candidate JAMES MULILO polled 35 votes of the total vote cast.
Ward Returning Officer JONATHAN PHIRI declared UPND’s TITUS CHOLA as duly elected area councilor for ITAPA ward.
This is from a  total of  1,594 votes which were cast from which 30 were rejected.
ITAPA ward seat fell vacant following the death of the opposition Patriotic Front Councillor LAWRENCE CHANDA.
