UPND SG says HH can contest as many times as he wants

Opposition UPND General Secretary Stephen Katuka says party president Hakainde Hichilema is free to contest the country’s elections as many times as he wants including the 2021.

Hichilema in 10 years he has been president of the UPND has unsecessefuly made five attempts at the Zambian presidency.

There are growing demands that the party holds a convention and elect a new leadership to steer it to 2021.

But Hichilema who says his election in 2016 was stolen is now going to the International Courts after his presidential election petition against president Edgar Lungu was not head in Zambia.

Responding to concerns that the party holds a convention to elect another leader, Katuka said in a statement on Saturday that the UPND constitution allows Hichilema to contest the Republican presidency as many times as he can.
