UPND Downplays Loss Of 4 Wards

By Michael Kaluba

The opposition UPND has regretted its failure to file nominations for various aspiring candidates at the ward level but maintains that this will not affect their presidential votes.

Remarks by the UPND Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa come in the wake of the party`s failure to field candidates thereby giving instant victory to the Patriotic Front in four wards namely Kabanse ward in Pambashe constituency and Lalafuta, Kalengwa, and Kashima West in Mufumbwe district.

Mr. Mweetwa tells Phoenix News that his party takes solace in past events where the ruling PF failed to field two parliamentary candidates in 2016 but still formed a government which he says is the priority for his party.

He says what happened in those wards is water under the bridge and that the party has continued mobilizing to protect the presidential vote which is more cardinal than elections at the other levels.
