MMD faction leader Felix Mutati has completed his tour of six districts in Eastern Province with a call to the membership to work hard in rebuilding the party and remain disciplined.

Mutati started his tour of eastern province districts on Sunday with a Mass at Kanyanga Catholic Church in Chasefu District before paying a courtesy call on Chief Goma of the Tumbuka and also visited the funeral house of the party’s late Chasefu Constituency chairman Cyprian Kamanga.

The MMD faction leader then held several indoor meetings with party structures from Chasefu, Lundazi and Lumezi Districts where he told members that there is no need to be confused by Nevers Mumba because there is a president in the party, a president he said was chosen by them at the convention.

He told members that the leadership of the party was taken to court and that the matter will be concluded soon.

Addressing members in Lumezi, Mutati said he was encouraged to note that members of the party were so committed to the party that they could wait for the leaders up to 21 hours. This happened after Mutati’s team had a over run in programs and only reached lumezi after 21hrs.

He said the commitment gave him renewed energy to ensure that he mobilises resources so that the party can effectively participate in future elections.

On Monday, Mutation started with a gym session at Kapata community gym in Chipata were he joined youths for a morning workout before holding a closed door meeting with Provincial and Chipata district officials.

After the closed door meeting Mutation was again on the move as he did a marathon of indoor meetings with four district officials  and other party members starting with Chadiza District.

In Chadiza, Mutati said there are three key elements that the party should ensure that it sticks to, and named the elements as Unity, Discipline and protocol.

He said it was important that the party remained united going forward as that is the most important ingredient to growing the party.

Mutati said with unity the party will attract new members while bickering and gossip will not only divide the party but that members of the public will lose confidence in the party.

He said with discipline the party will likely attract people wanting to join politics but are not sure which party to join and that it was important to follow protocol in the party because it brings order in the party.

The former Finance Minister said every member of the team should know what his or her role is and ensure that they do not undermine the functions of their leaders.

Mutati was accompanied by several NEC members who included Chairperson Security Sam Moyo, National Youth Chairperson Dauzen Tembo, National Chairlady Maggie Musonda and Jacob Mwanza who is the provincial Chairperson for Eastern Province.

The Mutati faction earlier on Saturday attended the N’cwala traditional ceremony of the Ngoni people.

The Mutati faction is soon expected on the Copperbelt with another tour of the province.
