UNION DEMANDS FOR PPE TO FIGHT ARMY WORMS

The Agricultural Technical and Professional Staff Union of Zambia -APSTUZ- has commended government for its quick response to the problem of army worms in maize fields.

APSTUZ General Secretary JESTONE PONDE says government’s fast procurement of chemicals to fight army worms will help sustain food security for the country.

Mr. PONDE however told ZNBC news that lack of protective clothing for extension officers may hinder effective spraying.

He has since urged government to provide personal protective equipment for officers who are handing the chemicals.
