UN pledges to support GBV fight

United Nations Assistant Secretary General AHUNNAK EZIAKONWA has pledged to support Zambia in fighting Gender Based Violence- GBV.

Ms. EZIAKONWA, who is also UNDP Regional Director for Africa, says the UN is committed to supporting the GBV fight and explore other areas which need urgent attention.

Speaking when she paid a courtesy call on Chief CHAMUKA at his palace in Chisamba today, Ms EZIAKONWA praised him for the role he continues to play in championing the fight against GBV against women and girls in his chiefdom.

And Chief CHAMUKA thanked the UNDP for the support it continues to offer the traditional leaders in fighting GBV and Child Marriages.

He said Zambia continues to make headway in fighting GBV through the change of laws and policies aimed at protecting the vulnerable women and girls.
