Two people die in a road traffic accident at Mazala area along the Great East Road.

TWO people have died after a Toyota Corolla they were travelling in lost contol and hit into a stationary truck at Mazala area along the Great East Road.The accident happened on Thursday involving Corolla Registration number ABH 3962 which was being driven by Osman Ngoma aged 35 years of Mazala Village, Chief Madzimoyo in Chipata with two passengers on board.Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo has confirmed the accident to Mwebantu in a statement.She said the accident occurred when Ngoma hit into a Water-Bouser Registration number AAX 5645 which was parked by Henry Mwale aged 36years of Mutilansembe Compound of Chipata District.“The accident happened when the driver of the Toyota Corolla failed to control the Motor Vehicle due to excessive speed and hit into a stationary motor vehicle,” Katongo said.Katongo identified the passengers who were on the Corolla as Lukas Banda and Stella Mwale aged 17 years all of the same village.She said the driver of the corolla and one passenger Lukas Banda died on the spot while another passenger sustained a fractured left leg and is admitted to Chipata Central Hospital and the driver of the Water-Bouser escaped unhurt.She said both deceased’s bodies are lying in Chipata Central Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortm while the passenger who sustained injuries is admitted to the same Hospital.
