Two Lusaka Markets shut for cleaning

The Ministry Health has shut down Kabuma and Kalonje market in Lusaka’s Kanyama compound to pave way for a cleanup exercise.

Health Minister SYLVIA MASEBO says the markets that have been closed for the next three days pose a health risk for the people operating there.

Ms. MASEBO adds that those that will be found operating will have themselves to blame because the law will be fully applied during and after the closure.

The Health Minister who was in the company Local Government and Rural Development Minister GARY NKOMBO was speaking inspecting the markets in Kanyama Township today.

She further urged people in the Township to desist from selling meat products in markets to prevent the spread of cholera.

AND Mr. NKOMBO directed the council to work with the traders during the three-day closure of the markets.

He said the markets will be open after inspections and when certified for operations.
