TRUCK WITH COPPER PLUNGES INTO MUTANDA RIVER

A Tipper Truck loaded with Copper Concentrate has plunged into Mutanda River which is 30 Kilometers West of Solwezi Town in North Western Province.

This happened on Saturday when the Tipper Truck was hit from behind by another truck at Mutanda Bridge.

And Zambia Environmental Management Agency ZEMA Director Operations MORRISON SOMBWE says the Truck was transporting copper concentrate from KASEMPA to the Copperbelt.

Mr. SOMBWE says the authorities will continue monitoring the water from the River until the truck is retrieved.

He has warned the surrounding communities to be cautious and desist from using the water until investigations are concluded.

Mr. SOMBWE said efforts by the owners of the truck are underway to retrieve both the truck and the copper concentrate from the River.
