Tough test ahead for Copper princesses

The Copper Princesses will have a stern test at this year’s COSAFA Women’s Under-17 Championship to Kick-off early next month as they come up against hosts South Africa, Comoros, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe.

The Coach Kaluba Kangwa drilled lasses will be heading to South Africa hoping to do better than the previous edition in Mauritius where they minted Bronze finishing 3rd in the championship but will have to be brave enough to overcome the challenges in a competitive pool of 5 teams after some countries withdrew owing to Covid-19 related issues.

Coach Kangwa and the technical bench lined up an intense training program of morning and afternoon for the girls and has been preparing the team for close to a month with a 10-day break given to the girls.

Over 45 girls from different teams across the country turned up for assessment and the technical bench continues to trim the team and the final squad is expected to be announced any time soon.

Meanwhile, Football Association Of Zambia(FAZ) Technical Director Mr. Lyson Zulu recently had a motivational session with the team at Queensmead Stadium in Lusaka where he encouraged everyone to work very hard and make the nation proud and prove to everyone why they are in the team.

The Under-17 Championship will also be played concurrently from November 5-13 with senior Championship will feature five sides in a single pool and will be played on a round-robin basis with 4 games meaning all teams will play one another, with 3 points for a win and 1 point for a draw.

The five teams are hosts South Africa, Comoros, Tanzania, defending champions Zambia and Zimbabwe.
