Permanent Secretaries and Directors at the centre of investigations into irregular payments at the Ministry of finance and auditor General’s office have been transferred to Cabinet office and Public Services Management Division to pave the way for investigations.

Secretary to the Cabinet PATRICK KANGWA says the ongoing investigations at the Ministry of finance have been necessitated by a special audit of the Integrated Financial Management Information System for the period 2018 to 2021.

Mr. KANGWA says the special audit revealed irregularities in the payment of some members of staff.

He has told ZNBC in a statement that President HAKAHINDE HICHILEMA has directed that the ongoing investigations must be conducted without any interference.

And Mr. KANGWA has dismissed reports suggesting that the officials have been dismissed from the Ministry of Finance, the Office of the Auditor General and some other line Ministries.

He says no permanent Secretary or Director has been fired contrary to Social Media reports.
