Three members of the same family in Lusaka’s Misisi Compound have died of suspected suffocation following a fire outbreak which burnt property in their sitting room.

Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo has identified the deceased as Gezani Zulu aged 35, his daughter Naomi Zulu aged 16 and son Titus Zulu aged 13.

Ms Katongo says the neighbors could not notice the fire suspected to have happened between 01:00 and 03:00 hours as the house had no enough ventilation.

She narrates that the fire was only discovered by the sister in-law of the deceased man who peeped through the broken window and later alerted the people in the neighborhood.

Ms Katongo says the bodies of the deceased were not burnt and have been taken to UTH mortuary.

She adds that the wife to the deceased man was out to visit her relatives, while the cause of the fire is not yet known.
