Sports Administrator Thomas Mumba has been put to rest at Lusaka’s Leopards Hill Memorial Park Cemetery after succumbing to COVID-19 last Tuesday.

Mumba who has left behind a wife and five children, was serving as General Secretary of the Zambia Hockey Association at the time of his death.

Speaking during the funeral service held at Saint Ann’s Funeral Parlor Chapel, OYDC-Zambia Sports Development Center Executive Director Fredrick Chitangala said Mumba will be remembered for his service towards the growth of hockey in the country.

And Chitangala has told ZNBC Sports News, that Mumba’s investments in mentoring youths on how to run the sport will see it flourish even after his death.

And Lusaka International Community School -LICS- Vice Principal-Primary Kangwa Katemba said Mumba will be credited for pioneering the growth of minor sports disciplines at the school.

Meanwhile ,Hockey Senior and Under -21 women’s team coach Floyd Chomba proposed for an annual hockey tournament to be held in memory of the deceased who was also Head coach of the Men’s team.

And Captain of the Men’s Senior Hockey team Samuel Tagwireyi described Mumba as a legend who will always be remembered for his contribution to the sport.
