The team is full of talent just lacks a bit of experience – Mwepu

Chipolopolo Boys skipper Enock ‘Computer’ Mwepu believes the team is full of talent but needs a little more maturity and experience.

The Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder who was speaking during the pre-match press conference at the National Heroes Stadium, says the team plays as a unit and that’s their strength.

Mwepu went on to say that the players know the importance of tomorrow’s game against the Comoros. The Computer went on to say that the players know that the only gift they can give the fans is a win.

“We have good players. You can see the talent and the skill. Personally, I think it’s only the experience and maturity is the only thing that we are lacking, We have good wingers, we have good strikers, goalkeepers, and defenders.

We play as a group and not as individuals so I think that’s our strength. We want to build a team that is united and a team that has the same mentality, working together, playing together whether we are leading or down, whatever happens in the game playing together,” he said.

“I think the spirit is good. Obviously it’s difficult coming from a loss but everyone knows how important the game is. We know the pressure that’s there but we are trying to be as calm as possible. We trying to motivate each other. We know that tomorrow’s game is a very huge game for us. The only thing we can give ourselves and the fans is a win and that is what we are trying to work on so we will lift each other be ready for tomorrow’s game.”

The Copper Bullets suffered a 3-1 loss at the hands of the Elephants on Match Day One of the Ivory Coast 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The three goals conceded were mostly due to loss of concentration and Mwepu revealed that the players are working on it.

“I thank the coach for beblieving in me and giving me the captaincy , Its an honor and its not easy looking at the circumstances,” he said.

“One of the things we have discussed is concentration and focus. The team has to show character and attitude. It was humid and we may have switched off in one or two moments. Everybody has to take responsibility and know that those are important moments we need to work on, everybody . Going forward it’s something we are working on as a team to organize the team in a good way.”

The Chipolopolo Boys will host Comoros tomorrow at the National Heroes Stadium.

Tickets for Tuesday’s match are on sale across Shoprite outlets via Computicket with prices ranging from K50-K200. Kickoff is at 18:00 hours CAT.
