NAREP Mandevu candidate in next month’s elections Ross Josphat Kasikili has described the suspension of campaigns in Lusaka and Namwala as a sad development.

In a statement, Mr. Kasikili stated that suspending campaigns in the two areas would disadvantage many candidates. “Who will lead us?

It’s really sad for Zambia. It’s sad in the sense that this is an election period in which every Zambian has the freedom and rights to assemble or belong to any of the political parties of ones choice, however freedom has been too restricted and rights have been violated hence the violence which has brought about the suspension of campaigns in Lusaka and Namwala areas,” Mr. Kasikili stated.

“August 11 is just days away, in this year’s elections when campaigning on the grassroots we are selling both our manifestos and the education on the referendum, with limited time to do all this more especially on the referendum 10 days have been taken away from us.”

Mr. Kasikili stated that all political players were blaming each other, adding that the UPND was blaming PF and that PF was blaming UPND.

“Who will care so much about Zambia to take responsibility? Who will take responsibility of the innocent people who have been dying in the name of politics? Politics in Zambia today are killing people when Politics are meant to serve(save). Counsel has been given from all sectors of society but who will heed to that counsel?,” he stated.

Mr. Kasikili stated that Zambians should pray for country so that God can give them leaders that will die for the people and not people dying for leaders.

“I cry for my generation as we have not seen much inspiring leadership from our fathers. We still get inspiration from our grandparents. The souls of those that died for the people of Zambia are in anguish to see that people are now dying for leaders.
My generation time is now that we got united for the sake of our own future and preserve that which our grandparents sacrificed. We have a legacy and a dream to preserve for Zambia,” he stated.

Mr. Kasikili stated that all youthful candidates in next month’s elections years should be supported by all well-meaning Zambians because the youth of today is the only hope for tomorrow.

“Am appealing to all youthful candidates more especially those that are connected to the grassroots of this country regardless of political affiliation to come together and preach peace to all Zambians, because Zambia’s dream is bigger than any Political Party in Zambia,” Mr. Kasikili stated.

“Put politics aside and think for a moment as an individual in your own capacity what your duty to this nation is, think about you and your family, look around you and make a decision based on what you will see when you look around yourself and personal. Do what is right for whatever is around you.”
