TEN BRIDGES DESTROYED IN LUMEZI

Ten Bridges have been completely washed away, while several others are on the verge of collapsing, following heavy rains in Lumezi District, Eastern province.

The destruction has led to areas in the valley of Lumezi, being cut off from the rest of the district.

Lumezi District Council Public Relations Officer, IRVIN MUYUMBA has confirmed, naming the collapsed bridges as Luamphamba, Chankalamu, Katete, and Makungwa.

Other affected bridges are Lusangazi, Lumezi and Kapaipi.

Mr. MUYUMBA has told ZNBC news in a statement that the local authority has so far released 150 thousand kwacha for Lusangazi bridge alone under the 2021 Constituency Development Fund -CDF.
