TAZAMA pipeline to be expanded

The Energy Regulation Board -ERB- says the expansion of the TAZAMA pipeline is a matter of urgency.

ERB Board Chairperson REYNOLDS BOWA says the regulator has engaged its Tanzanian counterpart to plan for the expansion of the TAZAMA pipeline.

Speaking when he met EWURA Board Chairperson MARK MWANDOSYA in Dar-es-Salaam Tanzania, Mr. BOWA expressed hope that a budget, timelines and a project name will be put in place by April next year to kick-start expansion works of the TAZAMA pipeline.

And Mr. BOWA said Zambia looks forward to setting up a natural Gas pipeline from Tanzania to Zambia.

At the same meeting, Professor MWANDOSYA pledged his institution’s support towards ensuring that the TAZAMA pipeline is expanded with modern features which will enhance efficiency and security in the movement of finished petroleum products to Zambia.

Professor MWANDOSYA also said EWURA wants to learn how Zambia has managed its hydro power plants.
