TARGET PREVENTION-DR. CHILUFYA

By Etambuyu Katota:Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya says dedicated and sufficient efforts in the prevention of new HIV infections are important if the country is to meet the target of achieving epidemic control by 2020.Dr. Chilufya says there is need for stakeholders to also ensure target prevention for adolescent and young people is brought to scale.He says Zambia has made remarkable progress in HIV response and Prevention of new infections.Dr. Chilufya said this in a speech read on his behalf by Health Permanent Secretary administration Kakulubelwa Mulalelo in Lusaka.This was during the National HIV Prevention Coalition Meeting and farewell meeting for UNAIDS Country Director Medhin Tsehaiu.And Finance Minister Margaret Mwanakatwe has called for prevention methods to be critically embraced as they are crucial to Zambia.Mrs. Mwanakatwe said the national HIV prevention Coalition should effectively monitor targets to ensure no one is left behind as Zambia seeks to achieve the target of zero new HIV infections.The minister said this in a speech read on her behalf by National HIV prevention Coalition Vice Chairperson Paul Mususu.Meanwhile outgoing UNAIDS Country Director Medhin Tsehaiu thanked government for the opportunity to serve in Zambia.Dr. Tsehaiu said Zambia has made tremendous progress in the fight against HIV and will achieve epidemic control by 2020.
