Tame Your Violent Cadres, Lungu,HH Told

Governance Commentator Abel Sibalavu has urged President Edgar Lungu and his bitter political rival Hakainde Hichilema of the United Party for National Development (UPND) to tame their violent and unruly cadres ahead of the 2021 elections.

President Lungu’s hooligans clashed with Hichilema’s ruffians at Kalundu Basic School in Lusaka West.

The PF thugs armed with matchetes, knives, screw drivers and all sorts of weapons moved in to disrupt Hichilema’s rally but found themselves fighting running battles with both the UPND thugs and the Paramilitary police.

The unfortunate incidence left a lot   injured.

Police picked up three suspected PF cadres in the process.

But Sibalavu said if President Lungu and Hichilema do not instill discipline in their cadres, the country will witness untold blood shed in the 2021 election campaigns.

Sibalavu said the two gallant leaders have power to bring sanity in their respective political parties.

He regretted that the two gentlemen have turnished the image of politics because  they have failed to prevail over their hooligans.

Sibalavu said President Lungu and Hichilema have chance to correct the mess they have created on the Zambian political scene.

“As we fast approach the 2021 elections, I would like to appeal to Comrade ECL and Comrade HH to tame their violent cadres. They have powers to do so,” Sibalavu stressed.

He said there is need to come up with systems of governance that will prevent any dots of violence going forward.

“We need to have an independent election body and a police that is free from political interference going forward,” he said
