Support govt development agenda,Lufuma tells defense forces

(By Chanesa Tembo)-Defence Minister AMBROSE LUFUMA has urged the defence forces to remain non partisan and support the government of the day’s developmental agenda.

Mr. LUFUMA says the military is charged with the duty of maintaining peace and lack of professionalism hinders their capacity to properly execute their National duties.
Speaking during the Zambia Army Annual Ball celebrated under the theme” Promoting Peace and Security to Spur National Growth and Development,” the Defense Minister said government government will continue supporting the men and women in uniform for effective duty execution.
Mr. LUFUMA said development cannot be attained without peace hence the need to support the Zambia Army.
The Minister also commended the men and women in uniform for the professional manner in which they conduct themselves during the execution of their duties.
Meanwhile, Zambia Army Commander DENNIS ALIBUZWI thanked the government for equipping the defense forces and said such is cardinal in case of cases that require army interventions.
Lieutenant  General ALIBUZWI thanked the government for it’s initiatives aimed at uplifting the livelihoods of the army officers.
He said the men and women in uniform will remain committed to their contribution towards national development.
General ALIBUZWI said the defense forces will continue to safeguard the country’s borders and water bodies and also extend it’s services to the region if need be for peacekeeping purposes.
