SUBSIDIES REMOVAL NODDED

By Hannock Kasama

Some pupils and parents in Lusaka  have endorsed the removal of fuel subsidies.

LIMPO TAPULA ,a female grade 11 pupil at MATERO Girls Secondary School, says the savings from the scrapping off of subsidies will contribute to the implementation of free education.

Ms. TAPULA also says the move will enable government to reserve funds for the distribution of sanitary towels among pupils in public learning institutions, thereby relieving vulnerable pupils from the burden associated with the cost of such necessities.

Ms. TAPULA was speaking in an interview with ZNBC News in LUSAKA today.

And, ARNOLD CHIKONDO Junior, a male Grade 11 pupil of MATERO Boys Secondary School, has also echoed that the removal of fuel subsidies will enable government to implement the free education system.

Mr. CHIKONDO Junior noted that free education is key to reducing poverty and illiteracy.

Meanwhile, Mr.CHIKONDO has also praised government for removing fuel subsidies.

He said the measure will supplement resources for the payment of retirees’ benefits.
