..Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Zambian Ministry of Labour Focus on Rule of Law and Productivity for Sustainable Growth

Lusaka, Zambia24 (16-04-2024) – The Chinese Chamber of Commerce recently paid a courtesy visit to Branda Tambatamba, Minister of Labour and Social Security, emphasizing collaboration, adherence to the rule of law, and productivity for sustainable growth during their meeting with the Zambian government.

Tambatamba highlighted the ongoing collaboration, stressing the importance of upholding the rule of law while promoting productivity. She also emphasized the significance of programs like the South-South triangular cooperation for empowering the Zambian workforce.

She emphasized the need for practical steps to enhance labor productivity and drive economic growth, focusing on an upcoming event on May 3rd, 2024, aiming to discuss labor matters and organizational structures, including topics like continuous improvement inspired by the Kaizen Institute.

Additionally, Tambatamba mentioned significant initiatives by the Ministry of Labour, including statutory instruments on minimum wages for non-unionized workers, and encouraged members to familiarize themselves with these regulations.

She also highlighted the ministry’s efforts to provide educational resources and accessibility through a call center with a toll-free line for assistance on labor matters.

The President of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Li Tie, praised the collaboration with the Ministry of Labour, showcasing proactive engagement and commitment to addressing pertinent issues, leading to tangible progress and increased meeting attendance.

Tie emphasized the chamber’s commitment to compliance with labor laws, ethical practices, and contributing to societal welfare, reaffirming their dedication to fostering a favorable business environment through continued partnership and proactive engagement with stakeholders.

He not only emphasized on collaboration, adherence to the rule of law, and productivity for sustainable growth but also commended the existing collaboration with the Ministry of Labour, highlighting efforts to enhance labor practices and foster economic growth.

President Li Tie mentioned the chamber’s proactive approach, including their recognition as the first organization to visit the Honourable Minister in November 2021, showcasing their commitment to engagement with governmental bodies.

He also emphasized the chamber’s dedication to ensuring compliance with labor laws, upholding ethical practices, and contributing to societal welfare, reaffirming their commitment to fostering a favorable business environment through continued partnership and proactive engagement with stakeholders.
