STATE HOUSE SAYS RECRUITMENT OF EXTRA 496 TEACHERS HAS NOT DISTURBED BUDGET LINE

By Chileshe Mwango

Presidential Spokesperson Anthony Bwalya has defended the recruitment of almost 500 extra teachers from the 30,000 earlier planned for.

Reacting to concerns that the recruitment of the extra number of teachers is a sign of lack of budgetary discipline, Mr. Bwalya says no budget line has been disturbed by the development and that this just shows how serious government is when it comes to creation of employment.

Meanwhile, Mr. Bwalya who was speaking during the phoenix breakfast show says the reported shortage of reagents in laboratories in some health facilities has nothing to do with allocation of resources saying up to 72 percent of the total budget for health sector has been disbursed.

And speaking when he contributed to the programme, Director Pay Roll Management and Establishment Sechwayo Nzima says the public should expect the recruitment of more health workers than those announced.
