State House distances the President from arrests

By Paul Shalala

State House has distanced President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA from the recent arrest of opposition leaders on various charges.

State House Chief Communication Specialist CLAYSON HAMASAKA says President HICHILEMA does not instruct Police on whom to arrest as they follow the law.

He says President HICHILEMA is focused on reviving the economy and restoring the rule of law.

Mr. HAMASAKA says those accusing the President of ordering the arrests are just using a heightened malicious campaign against the President’s efforts.

He says the accusations of arresting opposition leaders are unfounded and ill conceived.

This is according to a statement issued to ZNBC News in Lusaka.
