“SPEED UP RELOCATION OF KUKU,MISISI FLOOD VICTIMS”

By Mark Ziligone -Vice President Inonge Wina has directed the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit -DMMU- to quicken the relocation process of the 2,000 households affected by floods in Lusaka’s Kuku and Misisi compounds.

Mrs. Wina says the current situation in the two compounds is overwhelming and calls for immediate response from Government and its partners.

The Vice President has assured the affected families that Government will provide rentals for families who find alternative places for the next Three Months.

She says the DMMU will also continue with the distribution of food and humanitarian assistance to help the flood victims.

Mrs. Wina who was accompanied by DMMU National Coordinator Chanda Kabwe and Lusaka Province Permanent Secretary Elias Kamanga said this when she checked on affected households in Lusaka’s Chawama constituency.

The Vice President expressed concern that about One Thousand Seven Hundred toilets have been submerged and people have difficulties to access clean water in the two compounds.

And Mr. Chanda assured Mrs. Wina that the DMMU will ensure the 2 Thousand households receive the needed help in the quickest possible time.
