sexual abuse in zambiaChilufya Tayali says his demands to have PF Southern Province publicity secretary Trymore Mwenda arrested for sexually abusing his daughters have yielded the desired result as Mwenda has been apprehended by the police.

The opposition EEP leader last week exposed Mwenda’s diabolical activities in which he was said to have been sexually molesting his two daughters and other unnamed women for a number of years.

Tayali explained that Mwenda was reported to civil rights activist Laura Miti and the department of social welfare by his 19-year-old daughter who had gone through the same suffering at the hands of her father when she was young and that she could no longer hold herself when she noticed that her younger sibling aged nine was going through the same ordeal.

Below is Tayali’s statement.

I am glad to inform you that Trywell was arrested the following day 22nd February, 2018 and he will appear in court on 26th February, 2018. I will follow up the issue for the sake of justice and the poor girls.

I would like to commend the police for taking this step. This is not to say, they acted because I spoke about it, they had already done a lot of work way before I brought it our here.

Like I mentioned, he could have been arrested in November 2018 but due to some PF activities, Southern Province, they kept on postponing. I had to mention it here to make sure that Trywell was not saved from facing his iniquities.

As the case starts in court, I would urge the PF to suspend Trywell so as to send a message that, as a ruling party they are not interested in people that abuse children as alleged on Trywell.

Unfortunately, some people expressed concern over my previous article, citing exposure of the minor involved. I am sorry, if my article caused any inconvenience to anyone, it was not intentional.

All I want is the protection of the girl-child and I really hope that social welfare will do everything possible to make sure that the victims don’t regret having brought out this issue.

It would be good to handle this case, in the best way possible to encourage others to come out, because such vices are very common, but many people don’t come out.
