SOUTH AFRICA HOSTS KK MEMORIAL

By Etambuyu Katota- The South African government through the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture and the National Heritage Council in partnership with Government Communication and Information System today hosted a National Memorial Service in honour of late president KENNETH KAUNDA.

The National Memorial Service was held to pay tribute to Dr. KAUNDA, who passed away at the age of 97 on June 17, 2021.

And the South African Parliament has committed to ensuring that Dr. KAUNDA’s legacy lives on.

South African Speaker of National Assembly THANDI MODISE said Zambia’s founding father ensured that Zambia and the rest of the region was liberated.

Ms. MODISE was speaking during the virtual meeting of Dr. KAUNDA hosted under the theme: “Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Dr KENNETH KAUNDA”.

During the National Memorial, speakers included the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation NALEDI PANDOR and Zambian High Commissioner in South Africa Major General JACKSON MITI, who was represented by his deputy MAYNARD MISAPA.
