Soldier held for allegedly shooting wife dead using an AK 47 rifle

POLICE in Lusaka are holding a soldier for allegedly shooting dead his wife after the two picked a quarrel this morning.

According to Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga a 39 year old woman of Lusaka West has been shot dead using an AK 47 rifle by her husband who is also a Sergeant in the Zambia Army.

Mr. Hamoonga disclosed that the murder case was reported at Bob Brooms police post by Sergeant Justine Nkole of house N0. LCA 132S Army Apollo camp in Lusaka West today around 10:50hrs.

“It was reported that Sergeant Patrick Chewe aged 41 years shot his wife Lines Tembo aged 39 years in the chest and on the left lower ribs using an AK 47 rifle and two rounds were fired,” Hamoonga disclosed.

He says the matter was reported today at 12:30 hours.

“The accused has been arrested and a fire arm was recovered whilst the body of the deceased has been taken to the University Teaching Hospital Mortuary,” says Hamoonga.
